Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy has declared that the City of Schenectady will go into a General State of Emergency effective at 7 a.m. on Tuesday March 14, 2017. This declaration is based on the fact that the National Weather Service has upgraded the snow storm warning to a blizzard warning. Emergency services in the City of Schenectady will staff additional personnel to handle any issues that may arise from the impending snow storm.
Mayor McCarthy and The Schenectady Police Department request that all individuals refrain from all non-essential/non-emergency travel on roads within the City of Schenectady. To the extent possible, all cars should be removed from on-street parking by 4:00pm in order to aid with snow removal.
