Assistant Chief Michael J. Seber joined the Schenectady Police Department in May 1989. Rising through the ranks, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief in June 1998. Presently, Assistant Chief Seber is in charge of the Administrative Services Bureau (ASB). The ASB includes the Technology Unit, Budget, and Fiscal Responsibilities, Grant Management, Records Management Unit and Office of Planning, Policy and Accreditation.
During his tenure as Assistant Chief he has overseen each bureau within the Department and had supervisory oversight of the Department’s Special Operation Squad (aka SWAT) from August 1995 through April 2009.
Duties and responsibilities have included the following:
- Assistant Chief of Police: Investigative Services Bureau, Field Services Bureau and Administrative Services Bureau
-Commander of the Special Operations Squad (aka SWAT)
-Office of Filed Intelligence
-Neighborhood Camera Project
-Management of the Departments's 22 million dollar budget
-Public Information Spokesmen
-Director of Community Policing
-Department liaison to neighborhood and community groups
Assistant Chief Seber is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 197, and is an active member of the following associations:
