Public Hearing on Proposed Nott-Rosa-Wendell Intersection Safety Improvements
Public invited to attend hearing on proposed intersection safety improvements
SCHENECTADY – The City of Schenectady will be hosting a Public Hearing on proposed safety improvements to the Rosa Road, Nott Street and Wendell Avenue intersection. The hearing is Thursday, August 29, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the McChesney Room at the Schenectady County Public Library, 99 Clinton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305.
“The Rosa Road, Nott Street and Wendell Avenue intersection is one of the busiest intersections in the City which substantial pedestrian traffic being near Ellis Hospital, Union College, and Oneida Middle School,” said Mayor Gary McCarthy. “We encourage residents to participate in the hearing to offer input and share their ideas on the proposed safety improvements.”
The proposed safety improvements include the installation of a new five-leg traffic signal, new striping, pedestrian push buttons, and the reduction of paved areas through the creation of refuge islands with high-visibility crosswalks.
Nott Street is one of the City’s four main east-west corridors which link Erie Boulevard with Balltown Road. Nott Street’s intersection with Rosa Road and Wendell Avenue is a main junction point in the northern part of the City.
